Grimoire for Half-Life 2 Multiplayer
REQUIREMENTS: Half-Life 2 Multiplayer
TOOLS USED:
MS Visual Studio 2003, Valve's Hammer editor
DESCRIPTION:

During my last two semesters at Guildhall, I served as producer for a team of 15 artists, designers and programmers. We are currently hard at work on a multiplayer total conversion called Grimoire, which will bring arcade-style spell-based combat to the world of Half-Life 2. As you can tell from the accompanying screenshots, the setting is definitely High Fantasy.

Early in development, I worked closely with the Art team to help import their custom skeletons and animations into Half-Life by assembling QC files. My current duties including working on various in-game entities (such as a mana emitter), massaging game logic to work with our round-based combat system, and handling a variety of moving tweaks (controlling the character's facing, preventing movement while spell-casting, etc.)

Image 1: Grimoire is a multiplayer projectile-based combat game with a console feel.

Image 2: Red Sorceress flees after unleashing Ice Knives (one of the spells I implemented for the game).

Image 3: One of my duties on the team was to implement spells. In the image above, the red sorceress has dropped two "Rune Traps," which explode upon contact with the opposing player (devastating if used in conjunction with the Teleport spell!).

Image 4: Early iteration of the fireball and shield effects.
